The New Forest is situated in the Southern part of England. A superb family holiday destination that is topped by Salisbury and Stonehenge, flanked by the sea-faring cities of Portsmouth and Southampton and the beaches of Bournemouth.

The Royal New Forest was part of a deer hunting hierarchy that descended through the Chase, to the Warren, to the Freechase and provided hunting grounds for the nobility, lesser landowners and quite ordinary people. It is said that King William II [King Rufus] created this beautiful land. The Forest encompasses some 93,000 acres (145 square miles) and is the largest unenclosed area in Southern England. Brimming with wildlife the Forest exists today with the aid of the livestock that still roams free, literally free, you will find them all over the Forest roads too. Ponies, cattle, pigs, donkeys and the occasional flock of sheep add to the attraction and environment. It is, and has been for centuries, the natural home of the New Forest Ponies. |
